Godiva Chocolate

*
Godiva Chocolatier is a Belgian chocolate manufacturer producing premium chocolates and chocolates products. It was established by Joseph Draps in 1926 in Brussels, Belgium. Draps opened his first store in Brussels' Grand Place using the company's current name in honour of the legendary Lady Godiva.

Godiva has grown in popularity ever since. The first store outside Belgium was opened in Paris in 1958. The company expanded across Europe then, in 1966, reached America, where it was sold in luxury department stores. Shortly afterwards in 1967, it was purchased by the Campbell Soup Company. Then, in 1972, Godiva opened its first boutique in North America, on New York's Fifth Avenue.

Campbell, in December 2007, sold Godiva to Turkey-based Yildiz Holding. However it continues to produce the premium chocolate as it has from the start.
